Finance Q&A - Personal Circumstances

I've got a faulty car bought on finance - what do I do now?

I'm currently financing a faulty car bought on finance which I've got from another dealership. I want the car to be repaired but unsure how the whole process works?

Answer from the Stoneacre finance team:

Hi Luke, if you bought a car within 30 days and there are serious problems with it, you're entitled to a full refund. Some finance companies may offer repairs instead, so it's up to you to choose. The same options apply if the fault appears after 30 days, but no longer than 6 months. However, you may receive less in a second case as the car depreciates with the mileage.

And finally, if it's been more than half a year, you'll be responsible for proving that the problem was already there when you purchased a car and may not get any money back.

You can start the process by communicating the issue to your finance company in writing.
