About manufacturer service schedules

When a car is manufactured, the manufacturer issues a service schedule that is a recommendation for how and when the car should be serviced once purchased. New cars must follow the service schedule to maintain the validity of the warranty and this is made easier with manufacturer car service plans that schedule your servicing for you at a fixed-rate.

For older cars with an expired warranty, it's not required they must their service schedule but it widely recommended so your car is properly serviced according to its age and mileage. Service schedules include interim, full and major servicing at correct intervals, and recommends when certain car parts should be checked and replaced.

Manufacturer servicing is only available from approved service centres and must follow the specific guidance issued by the manufacturer. It's also required that all replacement parts are genuine.
