The all-new 2024 Mazda3 has made its debut at dealerships, boasting subtle updates to its beloved hatchback model. Rest assured, the award-winning exterior design and efficient petrol engines have been preserved, ensuring the car’s continued popularity.

Staying consistent with the Mazda approach, the Mazda3 adopts the latest grade naming strategy. Spanning across the impressive 18-model range, you’ll find a line-up that includes Prime-Line, Centre-Line, Homura, Exclusive-Line, and Takumi grades.

The 2024 Mazda3 comes with exciting updates, highlighted by a larger central screen, now measuring 10.25 inches, providing enhanced clarity for navigation mapping.

Connectivity has also been improved, offering Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with QI Wireless Charging. Notably, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto navigation are now supported in the head-up display for added convenience. Furthermore, the car is equipped with USB Type-C charging ports to keep your devices powered on the go.

e-Skyactiv-X and e-Skyactive-G Engine Options

The 2024 Mazda3 maintains its all-petrol engine line-up, offering a choice between the powerful 186ps e-Skyactiv-X engine and the efficient 122ps e-Skyactiv-G engine.

The e-Skyactiv X engine incorporates Mazda’s unique SPCCI Spark Controlled Compression Ignition technology, delivering 186ps at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 177 lb-ft at 4,000rpm. With a 15.0:1 compression ratio, optimized combustion control, specially shaped pistons, and innovative SPCCI combustion technology, the e-Skyactiv X engine achieves a broader operating range of combustion efficiency. This results in higher maximum engine torque and improved real-world fuel economy.

To enhance fuel efficiency, modifications to the intake camshaft were made, adjusting the intake valve timing. This reduction in pumping losses, along with an increase in the engine’s specific heat ratio, led to significant improvements in the e-Skyactiv X engine’s fuel consumption.

Furthermore, the Mazda M Hybrid mild-hybrid system’s advanced software optimises torque reactions delivered through the belt-driven ISG, effectively flattening the torque curve. As a result, the engine exhibits even smoother performance during linear acceleration, providing an enhanced driving experience.

Among the available options, the most popular engine in the line-up is Mazda’s 2.0-litre e-Skyactiv-G engine, delivering 122ps and 157 lb-ft of torque. Just like the e-Skyactiv-X engine, all models are equipped with Mazda M Hybrid mild-hybrid technology, ensuring maximum efficiency.

For added flexibility, selected models offer a choice between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox, allowing customers to tailor their driving experience according to their preferences.

Mazda3 Trim Choices

The 122ps e-Skyactiv-G engine is offered in all five 2024 Mazda3 hatchback grades: Prime-Line, Centre-Line, Homura, Exclusive-Line, and Takumi. With the exception of the Prime-Line grade, all other grades provide the option of either an automatic or manual gearbox.

On the Centre-Line, Homura, Exclusive-Line, and Takumi grades, you can also choose the 186ps e-Skyactiv-X engine, which is available with an automatic gearbox on the Exclusive-Line and Takumi models.

The elegant Mazda3 Saloon maintains the same wheelbase as its hatchback counterpart but stands out with its 200mm longer body. Distinguishing itself from the hatchback, it shares only the windscreen and bonnet, featuring unique exterior panels and a longer profile, exuding a stylish and distinctive presence within the line-up.

Available in Exclusive-Line and Takumi grades, the Mazda3 Saloon is equipped with the powerful 186ps e-Skyactiv-X engine. The flagship Takumi model can be paired with an automatic gearbox for added convenience and driving pleasure.

Dynamic Design

As expected from a hatchback that has consistently earned acclaim for its stunning design since its debut, the 2024 Mazda3 maintains its unchanged and captivating exterior styling. However, the introduction of the new Homura grade distinguishes itself with sleek black wheels and door mirrors, adding a touch of sophistication to the line-up. Additionally, across all hatchback models, Mazda introduces the elegant Ceramic Metallic paint colour to the Mazda3 for the first time, further expanding the array of attractive options for customers.

Opt for any of the three Saloon models in the line-up, and you’ll be treated to an executive appearance that exudes elegance and maturity, reminiscent of the striking Vision Coupe concept car. The sleek and smooth surfaces give it a sophisticated allure. Its chrome-plated grille and distinct front bumper boast a horizontal layout that enhances its low and wide stance on the road, creating a commanding presence. The combination of these elements results in a refined and sophisticated expression that is sure to turn heads.

Commenting on the 2024 Mazda3, Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda UK, said:

Our SPCCI engine technology is part of our multi-solution approach to powertrains and sustainability that has also seen the introduction of Mazda M Hybrid in Mazda3, plus the launch of the Mazda MX-30 – our first battery electric car and the Mazda CX-60 PHEV – our first plug-in hybrid. And while our SUV range continues to grow, the popularity of the Mazda3 with our customers and dealers remains very strong, highlighting what an important car it is in our line-up. With its connectivity and interior screen upgrades, the 2024 Mazda3 continues to be one of the best looking, highest quality and most generously equipped hatchbacks in the market, while the stylish Mazda3 Saloon is a competitor in the compact executive saloon market. With five new model grades, there remains a lot of choice across the Mazda3 range for customers to get the family hatchback they want.
