Older vs Newer Mercedes GLC Models
The Mercedes GLC arrived in 2015, with the second generation following in 2022. Both are well-equipped, with earlier models offering a traditional cabin layout.
A mid-life facelift introduced the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) and upgraded infotainment. It also expanded safety features and powertrain options.
Newer models offer more digital technology. They also include a broader range of electrified powertrains, including mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid options.
Infotainment, seating, displays and driver assistance vary by age and trim. Always check the exact vehicle specification rather than relying on registration year alone.

Premium Comfort & Practicality
The used Mercedes GLC leads with comfort. It offers an elevated driving view and supportive seating. Automatic climate control helps maintain the right temperature.
Families benefit from five seats, good rear-passenger space and useful cabin storage. This makes everyday tasks like shopping, school runs and longer family trips easier.
It's an excellent choice for buyers who want a practical SUV without moving into a big Mercedes. It feels premium while still handling everyday passengers and luggage.
Split-folding rear seats make bulky items easier to carry, while the powered tailgate helps with loading. Luggage space varies by generation, body style and powertrain.

Connected Technology
Mercedes cars come well-equipped with technology, and the GLC is no different.
Newer GLCs have a more digital cabin, while earlier models use older infotainment. Latest models feature a 12.3-inch driver display and 11.9-inch portrait touchscreen.
All models include Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are more common on later models.
Later models also feature voice control and the latest MBUX system. This lets you control key functions using your voice, helping to reduce distractions on the road.

Safety & Driver Assistance
Both generations of the Mercedes GLC achieved five-star Euro NCAP ratings in their respective tests. Both also scored highly for child and adult occupant protection.
It comes with passive and active safety features. For example, ISOFIX points on the outer rear seats make it easier to fit child seats. This is convenient for families.
All models come with cruise control with a speed limiter. Collision-avoidance/braking assistance has also been part of the GLC proposition across generations.
It also comes with a reversing camera to help you spot hazards and safely reverse into a bay. The exact driver-assistance package varies by age and specification.

Engines & Performance
Earlier GLCs can be found with 2.0-litre petrol and 2.1-litre diesel engines. Larger engines were available on selected versions, including Mercedes-AMG GLC models.
Every second-generation GLC uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. They also use a nine-speed automatic and DYNAMIC SELECT modes to adjust driving characteristics.
Some models feature mild-hybrid technology. A small electric motor supports the engine during acceleration and recovers energy when slowing or braking.
Plug-in hybrid versions are also available. They pair a 2.0-litre petrol or diesel engine with an electric motor, allowing electric-only driving alongside combustion power.
