Used Mazda CX-30 for Sale

Most small SUVs are bought for the space and the high seating position, then forgiven for being a dull drive. The CX-30 is the one that isn't. Mazda gave it sharp steering and a settled, cushioned ride, so it feels composed on a twisty back road and calm on a long motorway run.

Add styling that has aged well and a cabin finished to a standard the price rarely buys, and a used Mazda CX-30 makes sense for anyone who wants family-sized practicality without giving up on the drive.

It suits couples and small families who want one car to do everything: the school run, the weekly shop, the weekend away.

Three things buyers keep coming back for:

  • Genuine driver appeal, rare in this class of compact SUV
  • A strong Euro NCAP safety result behind it
  • A comfortable, well-built interior wrapped in a body that still turns heads

Finance shaped around your budget

Two options cover most buyers.

Hire Purchase (HP) splits the cost into fixed monthly payments, and the car is yours outright once the final payment clears. Choose this if you want to keep the car for years.

Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) keeps monthly payments lower by deferring part of the cost to an optional final payment at the end of the agreement. At that point you can pay it and keep the car, hand it back, or put any equity towards your next one. Choose this if you like changing car every few years.

Either way, a bigger deposit or a longer term brings the monthly figure down.

Already have a car? A part-exchange valuation is free and puts your current car's value straight towards the deposit.

What's it like inside?

Calm, uncluttered, and better finished than most rivals at the money. The dashboard is laid out around the driver rather than around a screen, with real switches for the things you use while moving, so you're not hunting through menus at 60mph.

Every CX-30 gets an 8.8-inch infotainment display, worked through Mazda's rotary controller between the front seats. It takes a day or two to learn, then it becomes the easier way to change a radio station or set a destination, because you can do it by feel without taking your eyes off the road. Cruise control and air conditioning are standard too, which take the strain out of longer journeys.

Outside, the CX-30 comes in a choice of eight standard Mazda colours, so there's scope to find one that suits you rather than settling for whatever's left.

Petrol power with a mild hybrid helping hand

Every used Mazda CX-30 is a mild hybrid petrol. A 24-volt lithium battery captures energy that would otherwise be lost when you brake and feeds it back to the engine, which sharpens response at low speed and reduces fuel use. In stop-start town traffic, where a conventional petrol engine is at its thirstiest, that's where you notice it most.

You'll find both 2.0 litre and 2.5 litre e-Skyactiv engines in used stock, in manual and automatic. The manual is the one to have if you enjoy driving; the automatic makes more sense if your commute is mostly queues.

The most powerful engine in the range is also offered with four-wheel drive, which adds stability on wet roads and in winter weather. It's worth asking about specifically, as it isn't fitted to every car.

Which used Mazda CX-30 trim should you choose?

Even the entry car is properly equipped in the Mazda Cx-30, so choosing is about what you want rather than what you can put up with.

SE starts you off with 16-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, a leather steering wheel and air conditioning, so the basics are covered.

SE-L Lux adds heated seats, keyless entry, a CD player and a reversing camera, which makes a tight supermarket bay far less stressful.

Sport Lux turns up the visual side with larger alloy wheels, privacy glass and black exterior trim, plus a panoramic sunroof that floods the cabin with light. It also brings the Skyactiv-X engine.

GT Sport is the one for long drivers and passengers who care about sound: a 12-speaker Bose system, a heated steering wheel and an electrically adjusted driver's seat, so finding your position takes seconds rather than fiddling.

The top of the range adds front cross-traffic alert and a 360-degree camera, a real help when reversing out of a busy car park onto a road you can't see down.

Trim names and equipment did change over the model's life, so check the individual listing for the car you're looking at.

How safe is the used Mazda CX-30?

Safety is one of the reasons the CX-30 sells as well as it does. It performed strongly in Euro NCAP testing, and Mazda backed that up with a driver-assistance kit that grows as you move up the range.

Rear parking sensors are standard on the entry trim, a reversing camera is available with SE-L Lux, and the highest specification adds a 360-degree camera and front cross-traffic alert, which warns you of vehicles crossing your path when your view is blocked. Because this kit varies by trim and by age, check the specifications of the exact CX-30 you're interested in rather than assuming.
