The new Vauxhall Astra Electric is a five-door, five-seat fully electric hatchback for families wanting a practical hatchback and ready for an all-electric powertrain, reaping the benefits of lower running costs with at-home charging.
The Astra has been facelifted for 2026, offering more comfort features and a fresh design for the modern era. A useful change in the facelift is the 55.4kWh usable battery capacity, offering 281 WLTP miles of electric range for even more range on a single charge.
With three trims to choose from: Griffin, GS, and Ultimate, you can choose sporty exteriors and added comfort with upgraded models.

Range
The new Astra has an improved WLTP electric range of up to 281 miles. The Astra also includes three levels of regenerative braking, which could improve efficiency in stop-start city traffic.
Charging
7kW AC home charging – takes around 8 hours to charge from 20–80%. Best suited to routine overnight charging at home, so drivers can plug in after their day and have more range available the next morning.
11kW AC charging – takes around 3 hours 20 minutes from 20–80% using a suitable 11kW public charger or three-phase home supply. Useful when faster AC charging is available.
100kW DC rapid charging – takes around 32 minutes from 20–80% at a suitable rapid charger. Most relevant on longer journeys, allowing a substantial amount of charge to be added during a stop.
Making the most of the battery
The heat pump and battery preconditioning help the battery and chargers work in colder conditions by reducing the energy demand during colder temperatures. The electric battery is also backed by an 8-year/100,000 miles warranty for peace of mind when venturing into electric driving.

Vauxhall Astra Electric interior & practicality
This comfort-focused Astra Electric has added Intelli-Seats to the new model, an ergonomic chair design that offers relief on longer journeys, as well as acoustic glass and sealing for a calmer cabin and a serene drive with fewer noise distractions.
Vauxhall has retained the practical physical controls for your most frequently used functions so temperature and sound can be adjusted without relying entirely on touchscreen menus.
The 352-litre boot is suitable for everyday luggage when driving around all day, with the 60:40 split rear seats adding up to 1,268 litres of space when fully down, with flexibility when you need to store more luggage and still need a passenger or two sat on the back seats of the five-seat car.
Astra Electric technology & connectivity
Two connected 10-inch displays put driving, navigation, entertainment and electric-vehicle information within one clear digital layout.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make everyday phone integration even easier. Vauxhall Connected services, including the e-remote and e-routes, give you key information about your EV at your fingertips so you can plan your routes and check vehicle health before entering the car.
The Electric Astra also offers Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), exclusive to the Astra Electric, which can power external equipment by supplying power from the battery, best suited for camping trips, allowing you to plug in equipment you usually wouldn’t be able to use.
The Ultimate trim adds the Intelli-HUD, which projects key driving and navigation information onto the windscreen in the driver’s line of sight, reducing the need to look down at the main displays. Wireless charging with a compatible phone can charge without plugging in a cable.

The systems that do the most work on an ordinary week are standard on every Astra Electric, whichever trim you choose.
Everyday road support
Adaptive cruise control is standard on every trim, so on a long motorway run the car holds your set speed and adjusts to the traffic ahead.
Automatic emergency braking is standard on every trim. It watches the road ahead and can brake if it registers a hazard, you have not reacted to.
Parking and visibility
Front and rear parking sensors are standard across the range, making tight bays easier to judge.
A 180-degree parking camera is standard on GS and Ultimate, showing a wide view behind before you reverse out.
An auto-dimming frameless rear-view mirror comes from Griffin upwards, helps reduce glare from following traffic at night.
Ultimate: more assistance and adaptive lighting
Ultimate adds four systems that cover the spaces you cannot easily see: Blind Spot Alert, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Positioning Assist.
It also gets Intelli-Lux HD headlights. Instead of flicking between main and dipped beam, they use over 50,000 elements to blank out the area around other cars while leaving the rest of the road lit, so you keep full lighting on a dark lane without dazzling anyone. They also cut glare off wet roads and dim for reflective signs. The Intelli-HUD head-up display puts speed and navigation prompts in your eyeline.
New Vauxhall Astra Electric design
The first thing you’ll notice on the 2026 Vauxhall Astra is the permanently illuminated Griffin badge on the front of the car; alongside this is a narrower visor and a compass-inspired design for a sharper, more technical look that gives the Astra its own front-end identity.
The electric Astra design differs from the other powertrains with the 18-inch Rekord alloys, which have been added to make the EV more aerodynamically optimised.
GS and Ultimate give the new Vauxhall Astra Electric a darker, sportier look, with a black roof.
