Meet the New Mazda CX-30

The new Mazda CX-30 is a five-seat compact crossover SUV built with the driver in mind. A commuter car for the journey to work and errands with the flexibility to go further for weekend adventures.

Mazda have taken the ‘Jinba Ittai’ approach to the CX-30, prioritising the connected relationship between the car and driver, giving you a car with intuitive response and a more enjoyable drive.

Choose between a 2.5 e-Skyactiv G and 2.0 e-Skyactiv X petrol hybrid engine with a choice of an automatic or manual transmission.

There are also five trims to choose from: Prime-Line, Centre-Line, Homura, Exclusive-Line, and Takumi, all with meaningful differences in styling, cabin comfort, and technology.

Choose your CX-30 Petrol Engine

Every CX-30 runs on petrol with mild hybrid assistance, so you fill up as normal and never need to plug in. There are two engines to choose from, and the right one depends on the driving you do most.

140PS e-Skyactiv G

The 2.5-litre 140PS engine suits most everyday driving. Its pulling power arrives early, so it feels relaxed around town and on the school run. On a steady cruise it can shut down two cylinders to use less fuel. It’s the only engine offered on the entry-level Prime-Line grade.

186PS e-Skyactiv X

The 2.0-litre 186PS engine is worth the step up if you spend a lot of time on motorways and A-roads. The extra power makes joining fast traffic and overtaking easier. Mazda’s SPCCI technology keeps economy strong, with up to 49.6mpg (WLTP combined) in the most efficient version. It isn’t offered on Prime-Line, but it’s the only engine available with all-wheel drive, on selected versions.

How the mild hybrid works

Both engines use a mild hybrid system that stores energy when you slow down and uses it to support the engine, saving fuel without you doing anything. Every grade except Prime-Line offers a choice of manual or automatic gearbox.

A Mazda CX-30 Built Around the Driver

The CX-30 is designed to feel natural to steer and an enjoyable drive. Mazda have designed the driving position, steering and the cars response to work together so the driver feels connected to the vehicle.

Intune with its ‘Jinbai Ittai’ philosophy the new Mazda CX-30 also includes G-Vectoring Control Plus which subtly helps the car respond smoothly through bends by making small changes to the engine torque and braking.

Drivers can also choose between the more familiar manual gearbox that gives you full control of gear changes or an automatic transmission, which is usually preferred in the stop-start traffic of busy cities. Some models also offer i-ACTIV All-Wheel Drive (AWD) for better traction in changing road conditions.

Inside the Mazda CX:30: Comfort for Everyday Driving

Inside the Mazda CX-30 starts with a clean, familiar dashboard and an adjustable driver’s seat and steering wheel for a comfortable driving experience.

Frosty mornings are covered with heated front seats and dual-zone climate control is perfect for longer journeys with both the driver and front passenger being able to set the temperature to their own liking.

Upgrade to the Takumi trim and add a heated steering wheel and electric driver’s seat with memory so multiple drivers can set up profiles to adjust to their own comfort levels.

Mazda CX-30 Technology & Connectivity

The centre of the car’s information and entertainment system is the 10.25-inch Mazda Connect Display with familiar physical buttons to control volume and temperature, behind the steering wheel also includes a driver display and HUD display which displays all important driving information within your eye line.

The centre display can connect to compatible smartphones wirelessly so you can view music, maps and messages in a clutter-free cabin, which can be accessed via voice control so you can focus on the drive.

Upgrade to the Exclusive line or Takumi trims for a premium Bose 12-speaker sound system delivering crisp sound throughout the cabin.

The Technology in the Mazda CX-30 is designed to be convenient of familiar commutes while still offering enough support when longer journeys are needed.

Boot Space & Everyday Practicality

Carrying enough for the daily drive, the 430-litre boot (422-litre with Bose speakers) can fit work bags, sports kit and weekend luggage with the added flexibility of 60:40 folding rear seats when passengers and extra luggage is needed.

With all seats folded the CX-30 can carry up to 1,406-litres (1,398-litres for Bose speakers) of luggage when more is needed which can be lifted from the boot or two rear doors.

This compact SUV offers the higher ride of an SUV but is still compact enough to make driving on narrow roads and parking in supermarkets relatively easy to a regular SUV.

Mazda CX-30 Exterior Design

The CX-30 has a long, flowing roofline and sculpted sides, and dark cladding around the lower body gives it a sturdy SUV stance. Its shape follows Mazda’s Kodo design approach, which uses smooth surfaces and the way light moves across them instead of sharp creases, so it looks unmistakably Mazda from any angle.

The grade you choose changes the look. Homura has 18-inch black alloy wheels and gloss-black mirrors for a darker, sportier finish, carried inside with red stitching. Exclusive-Line and Takumi have 18-inch silver or bright-finish wheels, depending on the engine. If you want a compact SUV that doesn’t look boxy or purely practical, the CX-30 is a strong choice.

Mazda CX-30 Safety and Driver Assistance

Every CX-30 comes with Mazda’s i-Activsense driver assistance systems, which give you extra support in everyday situations. They assist you but don’t replace your attention or control, so check the equipment on the version you choose.

On the road

Blind spot monitoring warns you about vehicles you might not see when you change lanes. Smart Brake Support can apply the brakes if it detects a risk of collision with traffic ahead, and lane-keep assist helps you stay in your lane. Radar cruise control is standard on every grade and holds a set distance from the car in front. Automatic versions add Stop & Go, which helps in queuing traffic. Takumi also adds Driver Monitoring and Cruising & Traffic Support for longer drives and busy roads.

Parking and manoeuvring

Rear cross traffic alert warns you about approaching vehicles when you reverse out of a space. Prime-Line, Centre-Line, Homura and Exclusive-Line have a reversing camera. Takumi upgrades to a 360-degree view monitor and adds Front Cross Traffic Alert for pulling out of junctions and driveways with limited visibility.
