In an extension to the regular line-up we’ve come to be used to, the new Fiat 500X came in to disrupt that and add an unexpected option to the SUV market, with great results.
Taking inspiration from its city car equivalent, the 500X is a compact SUV, but one with plenty of flexibility and practicality for family use. Further cues are evident in the new 500X’s design, with the familiar look of the hatchback moulded for the enlarged SUV.
One of the best factors to the new Fiat 500X is its versatility. Depending on your need for the SUV, choose between City Look and Off-Road Look versions; the former is a stylish and practical solution for everyday life, while the latter offers something a bit more. The Fiat 500X Off-Road Look is perfect for those wish to, every once in a while, go off the beaten track, with its 4x2 drive with Traction+ giving you full confidence on or off the road.
Moving to the interior of the 500X, you’ll be able to enjoy such features as the clever high-resolution seven-inch touchscreen, which is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Meanwhile, Uconnect can help you along the way with the likes of TomTom LIVE providing you with real time updates on traffic, weather and info on your route.
Additional features include the likes of automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, Keyless Entry & Go and Lane Assist System. Those who like their music might just be interested in the H-Fi BeatsAudio Sound system available; the nine-speaker arrangement complete with amplifier supplies a soundtrack of over 500 watts for a full-bodied, clear-cut sound.
If maximising practicality is your goal, the boot of the new Fiat 500X offers 350 litres with the rear seats up and a very useful 1000 litres with them completely folded down. In the cabin, meanwhile, you’ll find ample room for five adults.
Under the bonnet you’ll have the choice of several engines, with the most efficient of these – the 1.3-litre MultiJet unit – can achieve an impressive 68.9mpg and emit just 107g/km of CO2. If it’s power you’re after, the 1.4-litre MultiAir II powerplant serves up 140bhp through its six-speed manual transmission to offer a sub-10 second 0-62mph time.
