How does the BYD Super Hybrid DM-i Work?
Super Hybrid DM-i (Dual Mode intelligence) is an advanced plug-in hybrid technology developed exclusively by BYD.
The wheels are driven by an electric motor most of the time, while the high-efficiency 1.5-litre petrol engine provides additional flexibility for longer journeys or when needed to give it an extra push when merging or overtaking on the motorway.
The Super Hybrid DM-i offers extended range for a WLTP combined range of up to 646.2 miles so the DOLPHIN G DM-i can take on any journey.

Electric range & charging
The new BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i is an everyday plug-in hybrid car for everyday use, with the standard Active trim offering 24.9 miles of WLTP electric range, and the other three trims offering 65.2 miles of WLTP electric range, so a larger proportion of the drive can run purely on an electric battery when charged regularly.
The DOLPHIN G DM-i has an AC 15-100% charging time of under 3 hours, which means you can charge at home overnight with ease. The larger batteries available in the Boost, Comfort and Sport trims offer a larger 6.6kW AC charger for faster charging.
Boost and above also have 39 kW DC charging, quoting 10-80% in just 26 minutes for a relatively quick battery top-up when on the go, for extra flexibility on longer journeys in which you plan to stop for a slightly longer period.

Practical for everyday driving
Being one of the smallest Plug-in hybrids the UK has to offer, the new BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i has a total length of just 4,160mm and a minimum turning radius of 5.15m which can make the car easier to position in tighter urban and parking spaces.
While small, the interior cabin is practical and spacious, with a comfortable interior for such a compact car.
The 425-litre boot is spacious enough for the weekly shopping, and the rear seats fold down for 1,225 litres of space when you need to carry a little bit extra.

Which BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i trim is right for you?
The biggest functional difference in the DOLPHIN G DM-i trims is the powertrains: the Active offers a smaller battery, while the Boost and above trims offer a larger battery with more electric range.
The Active trim is the standard trim in the new BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i and is best suited for shorter everyday electric use.
The Boost trim is best suited when you want to maximise your electric capability, offering more than twice the electric range of the standard Active trim.
The Comfort trim has the same battery as the Boost trim, with added comfort and tech including vegan leather seats and cloth upholstery, W-HUD, and a 360-degree camera, perfect if you value added comfort in a car.
Sharing the same larger-battery powertrain as the Boost and Comfort trims, the Sport trim also adds a sporty style with a vegan suede interior for a more distinctive style. This is for the driver who wants the top specification in their new car.

Technology for everyday convenience
The 10.1-inch Touchscreen in the Active and the 12.8-inch Touchscreen in the Boost are the centrepieces of the everyday convenience the DOLPHIN G offers when it comes to its technology. Offering:
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Google Built-in (Available on Boost, Comfort & Sport)
- Intelligent voice control
- BYD app with cloud services
- Over-the-air updates
Upgrading to the Boost trim or higher also adds extra benefits, including V2L, which allows you to plug in devices away from normal mains supply, perfect for camping and wireless phone charging.

Driver assistance and safety technology
The new BYD Dolphin G DM-i offers a range of driver assistance and safety technology, including:
- Adaptive/intelligent Cruise Control – which can adapt to flowing traffic
- Intelligent Speed Limit Control - can reduce speed to stay below the speed limit
- Lane support systems – warn or intervene when the vehicle moves towards lane boundaries
- Blind-spot, cross-traffic and Door Opening Warning systems – add awareness in situations where approaching vehicles or road users may be harder to see, lane changes, when reversing or when opening a door
- Parking sensors and camera systems – help improve awareness of the vehicle’s surroundings at low speed
Alongside all this driver assistance tech, extra convenience comes from an 8.8-inch TFT driver display, which gives key information like speed within your eyeline, and a digital key for easy access to your vehicle.

BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i Design
BYD uses an ocean-inspired theme for the DOLPHIN G DM-i with signature LED lighting and an integrated spoiler, which makes this small car stand out on the road.
The Comfort and Sport trims offer 18-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic roof for added style.
Backed by a BYD Warranty
BYD covers every new car with a 6-year or 93,750-mile basic vehicle warranty, so protection lasts well beyond the early years of ownership. Key powertrain components are covered for 8 years or 93,750 miles under BYD's powertrain warranty terms.
The high-voltage battery has its own 8-year or 155,000-mile guarantee, with the warranty specifying a minimum 70% state-of-health threshold within its stated terms.
Bodywork is covered by a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty against qualifying perforation. All cover is subject to BYD's terms and conditions.

BYD DOLPHIN G DM-I Finance Options
There are two main ways to fund a new BYD DOLPHIN G DM-i, and the right one depends on whether you want lower monthly payments or outright ownership at the end.
Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) is built around the monthly payment, with an optional final payment at the end of the agreement. When the term finishes, you can settle that payment and keep the car, part exchange it against your next one, or hand it back, subject to the terms of your agreement.
Hire Purchase (HP) spreads the full cost of the car across your monthly payments, so there is no optional final balloon payment to plan for. Once the last payment is made, the car is yours.
If you already own a car, part exchange can reduce what you need to finance. We will value your current vehicle and put that figure towards your deposit, which in turn affects your monthly payments on either agreement.
