About Motability Scheme Car Prices
Motability Scheme pricing doesn't work quite like buying a new car typically does. This is because the Motability Scheme is similar to a lease deal, with payments taken from your mobility allowance.
This means pricing for Motability Scheme cars changes every three months as the year goes on. The Motability Scheme renegotiates prices with car manufacturers each quarter.
You'll see two different types of pricing on Stoneacre.co.uk. These relate to different types of mobility allowance: Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and War Pensioner allowance (WP).
The Motability Scheme offers three pricing options for its cars:
- cars that cost less than a mobility allowance
- cars that cost all of a mobility allowance
- cars that cost more than a mobility allowance
Cars that cost more than your allowance will be listed with an Advance Payment. This is a cash payment you must make when you order the car. An Advance Payment is non-refundable and covers the difference between the vehicle’s cost and your allowance.
Some cars will cost less than, or the same as, your allowance. For these vehicles, you won't need to make an Advance Payment when ordering. You may still receive part of your allowance if the weekly car rental is lower than your full allowance.
A three-year Motability Scheme lease also covers more than the car itself. Road tax, servicing, maintenance, insurance, RAC roadside assistance, tyre replacement, and windscreen cover are all included.
