Meet the Kia EV2: Big Electric Ambitions in a Compact SUV

Kia has unveiled the EV2, an all-new electric B-segment SUV that marks the entry point to the brand’s growing electric vehicle line-up. Compact, confident and packed with innovation, the EV2 brings together bold design, smart technology and everyday practicality – making it the smallest electric Kia yet, without compromising on what matters most. UK trims are yet to be confirmed, but here’s what we know so far…

The Kia EV2 represents a significant step in making electric mobility accessible to a broader audience. As our most compact EV, it blends bold design with cutting-edge advancements in charging, connectivity and safety. Building the EV2 in Slovakia reinforces our commitment to Europe and ensures this model reflects the needs and expectations of drivers across the continent.

Expanding Kia’s Electric Vision

The EV2 builds on Kia’s strong track record in electric mobility. Following the success of award-winning models such as the EV6, EV9, EV3 and the recently introduced EV4, the EV2 brings Kia’s EV expertise into a more accessible and compact segment.

By entering Europe’s second-largest automotive segment – the B-SUV class – the EV2 plays a key role in Kia’s future growth. This segment is expected to become increasingly important for electric vehicles as the decade progresses, and the EV2 strengthens Kia’s presence in a market with huge potential.

Designed to Stand Out

The EV2 showcases Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, combining modern, clean surfaces with strong, confident SUV styling. Upright design cues inspired by Kia’s larger electric models give the EV2 a purposeful road presence, while its compact length of around four metres makes it perfectly suited to urban driving.

Key exterior highlights include vertical daytime running lights, Kia’s latest Star Map light signature, a strong shoulder line and muscular wheel arches. Wheel designs range from 16 to 19 inches, and customers can choose from a wide selection of exterior finishes, including solid, metallic, pearl and matte options.

The EV2 ‘GT-Line’ takes things a step further, adding body-coloured design details and high-gloss accents on the bumper and lower front grille. The result is a more premium, lifestyle-focused look inspired by outdoor adventure.

Kia EV2 Interior

A Calm, Practical Interior

Inside, the EV2 is designed to feel open, calm and welcoming. Inspired by a “Picnic Box” concept, the cabin blends logical layout with emotional design, using fabric-rich materials and a wraparound dashboard that enhances comfort and creates a greater sense of space.

At the heart of the interior is Kia’s latest triple-screen ccNC infotainment system, featuring a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 5.3-inch climate control screen and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. Ambient lighting and eco-friendly materials further enhance the modern feel.

As Kia’s most compact EV, the EV2 also introduces ccNC Lite infotainment. This system mirrors the same layout and core functionality as ccNC but is available at a lower price point. Both systems support over-the-air updates and Kia Upgrades.

“Every element of the EV2 has been engineered with European lifestyles in mind. Its compact size, generous interior space and advanced technology make it easy to integrate into everyday life. By bringing upper-segment features into an entry electric model, the EV2 broadens the appeal of electric driving.”

Compact Outside, Surprisingly Spacious Inside

Despite its compact exterior, the EV2 offers impressive interior space thanks to Kia’s dedicated electric platform and a 2,565mm wheelbase.

A new sliding and reclining rear seat system maximises everyday versatility. Rear legroom can extend from 885mm to a class-leading 958mm, while sliding the seats fully forward unlocks up to 403 litres of boot space. There’s also a 15-litre front boot (frunk) for additional storage.

Customers can choose between a five-seat configuration or a four-seat layout with independent sliding and reclining rear seats. Headroom measures 973mm in the standard seating position for both four- and five-seat versions. In the four-seat model, headroom is 968mm with maximum rear slide, and 955mm when fully slid and reclined.

Confident Electric Performance

The Kia EV2 is available with two battery options: a 42.2kWh standard-range battery and a 61.0kWh long-range battery. Expected driving ranges are up to 317 kilometres for the standard-range version and up to 448 kilometres for the long-range model (WLTP figures pending).

Both versions use a 400V architecture and support rapid DC fast charging. The standard-range model can charge in as little as 29 minutes, while the long-range version takes around 30 minutes, helping to keep journeys simple and stress-free.

For the first time in a Kia model at launch, the EV2 supports both 11kW and 22kW AC charging. This reflects the widespread use of AC charging across Europe and offers greater flexibility at home and on the go.

The EV2 also delivers a fully connected electric driving experience, with an integrated EV Route Planner linked to Kia Charge, Plug & Charge functionality for seamless charging, and bidirectional charging through V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) and V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid). This allows drivers to power external devices or even feed energy back into the grid².

Advanced Technology Comes as Standard

Despite being an entry-level electric model, the EV2 offers a wide range of advanced driver assistance and connectivity features usually found in higher segments.

Available systems include Highway Driving Assist 2, Front Collision Avoidance Assist 2.0, Smart Cruise Control 2, Blind-spot View Monitor, Surround View Monitor and the latest parking assistance technologies. Remote Smart Parking Assist Entry allows the EV2 to be manoeuvred from outside the vehicle using the smart key – a unique feature in this segment.

Digital convenience is further enhanced through full Kia App integration, a Digital Key using NFC, Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband technology, over-the-air updates and Features on Demand. An optional eight-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system completes the premium in-car experience.

A Responsible Approach to Electric Mobility

Sustainability is at the heart of the EV2. Kia applies its ten material solutions throughout the vehicle, inside and out. These include bio- and BTX-free exterior paint, bio-based plastics, bio-PU seat upholstery, and carpets and felts made from recycled PET sourced from fishing nets.

The EV2 is produced at Kia’s Žilina plant in Slovakia, helping to reduce transport distances, support European jobs and reinforce Kia’s long-term commitment to responsible, market-focused mobility.

Built in Europe for Europe

The EV2 is the second fully electric model to be produced at Kia’s Žilina facility, following the EV4. Production will begin in two phases, with the standard-range model entering production in February 2026. Long-range and ‘GT-Line’ versions will follow from June 2026.
