Alpine A310 VISION: Honouring a Legend with Retro-Futuristic Style

Few sports cars capture the essence of 1970s design quite like the Alpine A310. Unveiled in 1971, it followed the famous Berlinette and created a legendary path of its own. Its striking geometric silhouette and low stance redefined the classic sports car aesthetic.

Today, the A310 reaches two major historic milestones. The original four-cylinder model celebrates its 55th anniversary, while the iconic V6 version marks 50 years. To celebrate this dual lineage, Alpine has unveiled the stunning A310 VISION concept.

This creation is not a copy of the past. Instead, it offers a bold retro-futuristic tribute to an enduring French classic.

A Fresh Take on Classic Heritage

The Alpine design team started this project with a physical A310 placed inside their studio. Designers studied its muscular proportions and distinct lines to capture its original spirit.

Their goal was straightforward yet ambitious. They aimed to reimagine how the A310 would look using modern materials, technology, and design methods.

The concept blends two key eras of the classic car. It combines the clean design of early four-cylinder models with the wider, aggressive look of later V6 variants.

Alpine created the A310 VISION as a standalone design exercise. It is a creative exploration of brand heritage rather than a preview of a production vehicle.

Bold Proportions and Striking Style

The A310 VISION boasts dramatic proportions that command immediate attention on the road. The concept measures 4.55 metres long and just 1.18 metres tall.

It spans 2.03 metres wide across its rear section, supported by a 2.45-metre wheelbase. These dimensions create a grounded, incredibly wide stance.

Eye-catching “A”-shaped alloy wheels pay direct homage to the solid metal wheels of the 1970s models. The bodywork features sleek aluminium panels contrasted against a dark lower section.

This black trim features an organic finish directly inspired by Formula 1 aerodynamics. Above the waistline, a semi-transparent glass bubble encloses the cabin, offering a hint of futuristic flair.

Innovation Built on the APP Platform

Beneath its striking exterior, the concept utilises Alpine’s advanced APP platform. This modular base allows designers total freedom to experiment with fresh shapes and volumes.

The front end introduces a clever “pop-down” headlight system that reveals the car’s personality during start-up. Meanwhile, the sculpted bonnet features an aerodynamic “S-duct” to guide airflow efficiently.

Along the top, a central “Y zero” blade runs down the length of the vehicle. At the back, a split rear wing uses transparent materials that evoke alpine ice and mountain peaks.

Blade-style rear lights complete the tail section while generating functional aerodynamic downforce at high speeds.

Inside the Alpine A310 VISION

Although primarily an exterior design study, the concept offers a clear glimpse into its futuristic cabin. The interior serves as the emotional heart of the vehicle.

Inside, you will find ergonomically sculpted seats that cradle the driver and passenger. The cabin relies on bold, unified colour-blocking to create a high-contrast visual impact.

Tactile physical controls draw direct inspiration from high-end audio equipment. This blend of retro physical switches and futuristic styling keeps the interior interactive and engaging.

Driving Alpine Design into the Future

The A310 VISION demonstrates how Alpine can celebrate its past without relying on pure nostalgia. By leveraging the flexibility of the APP platform, the brand continues to reimagine its core identity.

This concept honours a legendary classic while setting a thrilling visual direction for future Alpine sports cars.
