Moving away from only a 5-year warranty for their vehicles, Toyota has launched a new type of cover that entitles their vehicle owners the chance to claim up to 10-years of warranty under the new ‘Toyota Warranty’ scheme. A fundamental change for the UK drivers, the Toyota Warranty scheme gives Toyota owners the chance to accumulate an additional 12 months/10, 000 miles’ cover for their vehicle each time they take it to be serviced at an official Toyota centre.
Essentially, any Toyota that is under 10 years old or has 100, 000 miles on the clock will be eligible for the scheme, as the warranty will be automatically applied at no extra cost to any customer.
What is more important to note about this scheme is all Toyota models qualify, as long as the mileage and age meet the criteria. Vehicles eligible for the scheme include passenger cars, light commercial vans and pick-ups – perfect for every driver.
Additionally, a vehicle that has been bought second, third, fourth or even fifth-hand and not through a Toyota dealership will still be entitled to the Toyota Warranty.
This replaces the current warranty with a three year, 60,000-mile warranty as standard, and this can be extended each time a vehicle is serviced at a main dealer.
The New Toyota Warranty covers the same parts and labour as the three-year manufacturer’s warranty provided on new Toyota vehicles and the one-year manufacturer warranty that’s standard with approved used vehicles. The cover is automatic when the vehicle undergoes a scheduled full or interim service and effective from that date for 12 months or 10,000 miles – whichever is soonest. On vehicles that have service intervals every two years, the cover is for 24 months/20,000 miles.
However, it does not include wear and tear items, bodywork, paint, interior trims and maintenance parts. A vehicle health check is part of the service package, which includes all mechanical and electronic parts, which helps potential problems to be detected at an early stage. Any existing defects present at the time of service are excluded from the warranty.
There are no forms to sign to obtain the warranty cover and the customer does not have to keep or present any policy documents should they need to make a claim. The warranty status of their vehicle is recorded in the details of their vehicle held by the Toyota network and is noted on the service invoice raised by the centre. Especially key to note, even if a vehicle hadn’t attended a Toyota service centre prior, as long as they meet the criteria, they will be allowed to start up with the Warranty scheme.
There are no complex clauses, exclusions or caveats to the Toyota Warranty scheme: the new programme is designed to be simple, complete and easy for the customer to understand and benefit from, true to Toyota’s customer-first approach to business. Its design also makes it easy for the centre network to apply and manage.
Bringing your vehicle back into a Toyota centre can begin the warranty, even if it has not been to one before. This benefits customers by increasing the value of their vehicle when they come to sell or exchange it – its value will be enhanced by the presence of a manufacturer warranty.
In addition to the Warranty, servicing at a Toyota centre provides other significant benefits to customers. Work is carried out by qualified manufacturer technicians, as well as using Toyota-approved parts to ensure optimum performance.
Workshop teams are fully equipped and specially trained on all the technologies featured in Toyota vehicles, including electrified powertrains and advanced handling and safety systems. Pricing is transparent with a service menu price guarantee for the scheduled servicing requirements for each model.
Toyota customer-focused approach includes an online service booking facility at the customer’s preferred centre. Centres will also make servicing as convenient as possible, with collection and delivery, courtesy cars and while-you-wait servicing options.
Additionally, all Toyota vehicles are covered by Toyota Warranty (as long as they meet the criteria), which include Hybrids and EVs – perfect for the future in the motor industry.
For starters, the protection applies to every type of powertrain in a Toyota vehicle. Meaning hybrids, electric, petrol and diesel models will be covered on any sized vehicle that is owned, such as the new Toyota Proace City or Plug-in Prius.
Although the warranty is standard, different types of vehicle owners will have a unique customer experience depending on their chosen car.
