A real front-runner in the electric van market, Renault is committed to constantly developing its battery and electric motor technology. The new Kangoo Z.E. comes with a 33kWh lithium-ion battery pack and 44kW electric motor, so has a larger capacity than the previous version. However, the new battery still takes up the same amount of space under the load floor so doesn’t compromise on the available load volume.
The new battery has an NEDC range of 170-miles, however, Renault is vocal about the fact that in real-world situations a figure of 124-miles is more achievable on your daily commute.
A single charging socket is located behind the blue-tinted Renault badge at the front. When it comes to charging you’ll need around 17-hours to charge the Kangoo Z.E. from flat via a standard three-pin socket, 11-hours from a wall box and six-hours from 43kW public fast-charging station.
While under the bonnet of the new Renault Kangoo Z.E. might be very different from the conventionally fuelled Kangoo van, otherwise it is very similar. Available in both standard and Maxi variants it offers similar payloads for practical loading.
Available in just one trim, there are a host of additional extras available including pre-heating or cooling available to help maintain driving range. On top of that, the advanced touchscreen infotainment system keeps you up to date with the Z.E’s running gear.
