MG has just dropped some absolutely brilliant news at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and we’re genuinely excited to share it with you.
The British marque has unveiled two stunning new electric vehicles that are set to shake up the EV landscape – the IM 5 executive saloon and the IM 6 SUV.
And trust us, these aren’t just your typical electric cars.

What’s All the Fuss About?
The “IM” stands for Intelligence in Motion, which perfectly captures what these cars are all about.
David Allison, Head of Product and Planning for MG, put it brilliantly: “MG has made EV ownership accessible, exciting, and different with the MG Cyberster convertible leading the way for the brand.”
“But now, we’re seeking to deliver technology leadership and innovation with MG IM, engaging with customers aspiring for the future, today.”
Performance That’ll Make You Smile
Let’s talk numbers, because these are properly impressive. The IM 5 Long Range can travel up to 441 miles on a single charge with its 100 kWh battery – that’s London to Edinburgh without stopping!
Even better, thanks to the new 800V architecture, you can charge from 10% to 80%in just 17mins. Perfect for those motorway service station coffee breaks.
But here’s where it gets really exciting – these cars are really quick. The IM 5 will rocket from 0-62mph in just 3.2secs, whilst the IM6 manages it in 3.5secs.
That’s thanks to the powerful electric Hurricane motors and MG’s commitment to making driving genuinely thrilling.
Clever Tech That Actually Makes Sense
The technology in these cars is genuinely impressive, but it’s the sort that actually makes your life easier rather than just showing off.
Take the Rainy Night Mode, for instance – it’s designed to help you navigate those tricky British weather conditions we know so well.
The four-mode One Touch Park Assist is particularly clever, using 360-degree cameras and autonomous driving capabilities to handle complex parking manoeuvres automatically. No more sweating over tight supermarket spaces!
Perhaps most impressive is the bi-directional rear wheel turning technology on the IM 5, which shrinks the turning circle down to just 9.98m. Anyone who’s tried to navigate narrow British streets will appreciate just how brilliant this is.
A Cabin That’s Actually Special
Step inside either car and you’ll be greeted by a massive 26.3-inch ultra-HD infotainment display, supported by a 10.5-inch touchscreen.
But it’s not just about the screens – there’s a stunning panoramic roof and a bespoke 20-speaker audio system with four in-ceiling Sky Speakers.
The double-layer laminated windows throughout ensure it’s beautifully quiet inside, perfect for those long motorway journeys.
How Much Will the MG IM5 and IM6 Cost?
Here’s the brilliant bit – these cars are reasonably priced for what you’re getting. The IM5 range starts at £39,450 for the Standard 75kWh version, with the Long Range 100kWh model at £44,995, and the Performance variant at £48,495.
If you fancy the larger IM6 SUV, prices begin at £47,995 for the Long Range model, rising to £50,995 for the Performance version, and £52,995 for the exclusive Launch Edition.

More Design Concepts
MG also showed off some gorgeous design concepts at Goodwood.
The Cyberster Black looks stunning with its luxurious black finish enhanced with ultra-fine glass particles that create a subtle sparkle.
It appears matte when still, but comes alive with a shimmering effect in motion – proper premium stuff.
The MG Cyber X concept is particularly intriguing, giving us a glimpse into the future of MG’s design language.
This compact, all-electric urban explorer with its matte grey finish and pop-up headlights shows just how creative MG is getting with their ‘Cyber’ sub-brand.
The Electric Future of MG
MG is clearly serious about leading the electric revolution, and these new IM models prove they’re not just making affordable EVs – they’re making genuinely desirable ones.
With exceptional performance, clever technology, and pricing that won’t break the bank, the IM 5 and IM 6 look set to give the established premium brands a real run for their money.
The future of electric driving is looking rather exciting, and it’s got MG badges on it. Who’d have thought it?
