It’s been quite the debut year for JAECOO on these shores. Now, fresh from celebrating over 35,000 registrations since launch, the brand is pushing ahead with two bold new additions to its JAECOO 7 line-up.
If you’ve been keeping an eye on the UK car market over the past twelve months or so, you’ll have noticed JAECOO’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable.
The Chinese SUV maker, part of the Chery International family, arrived here with a bang, and it hasn’t let up since.
Now, JAECOO is adding two fresh variants to its best-selling JAECOO 7: a seriously mean-looking Black Luxury edition and, for the first time in the UK, a proper self-charging full hybrid.

The JAECOO 7 SHS-P Black Luxury
Let’s start with the one that’s bound to turn heads in the car park. The JAECOO 7 SHS-P Black Luxury is exactly what it sounds like: a blacked-out, dressed-to-impress version of the plug-in hybrid SHS model.
We’re talking a black front grille, black logo suite all round, blacked-out mirrors, wheels, and roof rails.
Pop inside, and you’ll find a black headliner and sun visors finishing off the look. It’s bold and suits the JAECOO 7’s muscular SUV shape.
It’s available exclusively in top-of-the-range Luxury spec.
The JAECOO 7 SHS-H Self-charging Hybrid
The bigger news for many buyers, though, will be the arrival of the JAECOO 7 SHS-H, the brand’s first full hybrid, and one that doesn’t require you to hunt for a charging cable.
For those who like the idea of electrified driving but aren’t quite ready to commit to plugging in, this is the one to watch.
Under the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with JAECOO’s self-charging hybrid system. Together, they produce a healthy 221bhp, which is enough to hustle the JAECOO 7 to 0-62mph in just 8.3secs.
Top speed is 112mph, and the SHS-H returns an extra-urban fuel economy figure of 53mpg on the WLTP cycle. CO₂ emissions come in at 125 g/km, which keeps it in a reasonably sensible tax band too.
A Hybrid System Designed With Purpose
The hybrid system itself is no afterthought either.
JAECOO has developed the powertrain specifically for hybrid use, incorporating six core technologies: Deep Miller Cycle combustion, intelligent turbocharging, smart thermal management and more.
The result is a claimed thermal efficiency of 44.5%, a figure that’ll impress any engineer, and whisper-quiet operation at just 10 dB during normal running. You’ll barely know it’s ticking over at idle.

Two JAECOO 7 Specs to Choose From
The SHS-H comes in Pure and Deluxe trims.
The entry-level Pure comes with tweed cloth seats, a 13.2-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a refrigerated centre console, dual-zone climate control, and front and rear parking sensors as standard.
Step up to Deluxe, and you gain eco-leather upholstery, an upgraded 8-speaker sound system, and a larger 14.8-inch screen. Both represent solid value in the current hybrid market.
A Brand That’s Already Making Its Mark
Context matters here. In February 2026, the JAECOO 7 was the fifth best-selling car in the entire UK market, with 1,446 units finding new homes that month alone.
The brand was also named Carwow’s Brand of the Year 2026 and generated more customer enquiries on the platform for a single model (the JAECOO 7) than any other nameplate throughout 2025. These aren’t the numbers of a brand still finding its feet; they’re the numbers of one that’s firmly arrived.
Interestingly, plug-in hybrid variants accounted for over 70% of all JAECOO 7 sales in 2025, which tells you something about the appetite British buyers have for electrified drivetrains when the price is right.
The full hybrid JAECOO SHS-H should broaden that appeal further still, particularly for drivers with no easy access to home charging.
When Can You Get One?
Both the JAECOO 7 SHS-P Black Luxury and the JAECOO 7 SHS-H will be available to order from May 2026.
As with every JAECOO 7, both models come backed by the brand’s reassuring 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and one year of complimentary RAC breakdown cover included as standard, which, for a newer brand still building trust with UK buyers, is a genuinely smart move.
