Ready to go on sale in November this year, the MG ZS EV has been unveiled with a new facelift – featuring a new design and longer range, without losing the practicality of an SUV or the bespoke style it’s been known for. Perfect for urban driving and weekend travel, the ZS is now available with a choice of two batteries, meaning it’s ready for any adventure.
2021 – the year that just keeps on giving new facelifts for some of our favourite cars. We’ve been gifted the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee, the new Dacia Duster and the ever so popular Ford Fiesta… we didn’t expect to push our luck and expect anymore.
Well, that was until we found out that MG was updating the all-electric ZS – let’s thank the Car Gods!
Whilst MG has grown quickly in popularity, the new MG ZS EV has been dubbed as one of the best-selling models for its comfortable, intelligent, 100% electric, family-friendly SUV qualities.
So, what can we expect from the new 2021 MG ZS EV facelift?
For starters, the all-electric ZS EV has fresh exterior styling. Although retaining the original silhouette, the updated model sports a renewed look, that includes discarding the faux-grille at the front end and replacing it with a single-piece bumper and redesigned rear bumper.
Instead of the charging flap being hidden under the grille, it is now visible on the car’s front end, as well as featuring sharper LED headlights.
Upgrades to the inside are minor, but there is a key change to the internal technology. The MG ZS EV now includes the latest iSmart infotainment system, which will bring a raft of new features to its drivers and passengers. The 10.1-inch display is said to offer better graphics and allow owners to retrieve the car information to their own mobile phone anywhere – including the charge level.
Best till last…
What is the most exciting part of the refreshed MG ZS EV is the two battery options available! The MG ZS EV crossover is now available with a 72kWh long-range battery that offers a range of 273 miles per charge, compared with the 163 miles offered by the current car’s 44.5kWh pack. This will support 76kW DC rapid charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 0% to 80% in 42 minutes – really impressive for an SUV of this calibre!
Although UK prices will be confirmed closer to its market launch, this top-end version will be priced at £29,770 – meaning it’s one of the cheapest electric SUVs that’s on the market.
For a more cost-effective version of this car, MG will also bring drivers a version that is equipped with a 51kWh battery for a range of 199 miles in 2022, which will be priced at roughly £26,370.
In terms of trim levels, the MG ZS EV will consist of SE, Trophy and Trophy Connect models, however additional equipment for each trim has not been revealed yet.
The new MG ZS EV will be hitting out Stoneacre MG showrooms in November 2021, with prices set for release soon, so make sure to keep an eye out here for more details!
