Hyundai 2023 What Car? Car Awards

23 Jan 2023 by Megan Maxwell

Hyundai just scored big at the What Car? Car of the Year Awards, with two of its models taking home top honours in what’s been an incredible start to 2023.

Hyundai i20 N

The What Car? team of experts recently crowned two Hyundais as road-ready champions: the i20 N taking home ‘Hot Hatch of the Year’ and the SANTA FE SUV securing titles for both ‘Seven-seater of the Year’, and most notably, ‘Best Plug-in Hybrid for Big Families’.

Hyundai i20 N Award:

The Hyundai i20 N is a powerful and versatile car that packs a punch. It’s the perfect choice for drivers who want to experience thrilling performance without compromising on practicality or comfort. This hot hatch has everything you need, from advanced safety features to cutting-edge technology. With its turbocharged engine, sophisticated suspension setup and dynamic styling, the i20 N offers an exhilarating driving experience that will turn heads wherever it goes.

Whether you’re commuting or hitting the open road, this model has all the power and agility you could ever need – making it well deserving of its ‘Hot Hatch of the Year’ title at What Car? Car of the Year Awards.

Ashley Andrew, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor UK, said:

The awards from What Car? are particularly pleasing as they illustrate the depth of Hyundai’s current range of vehicles. Our N cars have created a massive impact in a short space of time, and the i20 N is a fantastic example of an exciting performance model that can be comfortably driven on a daily basis, while the SANTA FE offers a fantastic blend of practicality, comfort and electrification for SUV customers.

SANTA FE Plug-In Takes Two:

The Hyundai Santa Fe SUV is a perfect choice for drivers who want the best in terms of comfort, safety, and technology. This vehicle comes with advanced driver assistance systems such as Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) to help you stay safe on the road. Additionally, it has an impressive suite of infotainment features, including Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility and wireless charging capability.

On top of all this, it also offers plenty of space for up to seven passengers – making it ideal for big families or groups looking to travel together in style. It’s no wonder that the What Car? team were so impressed with this model; awarding it both ‘Seven-seater of the Year’ and ‘Best Plug-in Hybrid for Big Families’ at their recent awards ceremony.

Hyundai SANTA FE Plug-in

What Car? Editor, Steve Huntingford, said:

In a lot of seven-seaters, the third row is strictly for emergencies, but the Hyundai SANTA FE has room for seven adults. Crucially, though, this practicality doesn’t come at the expense of an upmarket feel, while the comfortable ride and generous standard equipment add further to the car’s appeal. The 1.6 T-GDi Plug-in Hybrid variant will save company car drivers a lot of money, while the non-plug-in 1.6 T-GDi Hybrid is similarly appealing as a private buy.

Hyundai News:

Despite 2023 being only three weeks old, Hyundai’s year has started in impressive fashion. Already the IONIQ 5 has been named Large Electric Car of the Year by SME fleet specialist Company Car & Van, while the European New Car Assessment Programme recognised the IONIQ 6’s safety credentials by awarding it ‘Best in Class’ in the ‘Large Family Car’ category.

Additionally, the release early in January of the UK’s latest car registration figures by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed that Hyundai had recorded its largest ever market share of 5.0% in 2022.

Hyundai’s commitment to providing drivers with advanced technology, comfort and safety features is clearly paying off. In just three weeks of 2023, the brand has already made impressive strides in its awards tally – it seems Hyundai are well on its way towards becoming one of Europe’s leading car manufacturers this year.

With an ever-expanding range that caters to various needs, there really is something for everyone within Hyundai’s portfolio!
