Aftersales Q&A - Mot

When does my car need an MOT?

Answer from the Stoneacre aftersales team:

Hi Tom, thanks for your question.

When your car is three years old, you’ll need to have a valid MOT and regular check-ups every year after this.

Driving without a valid MOT is not allowed, unless if you’re travelling to a repair centre or getting an MOT in a garage. Other cases include failing an MOT test before the current one expires because you’ve booked it in early.

Many people are confused about when their MOT expires, but it’s easy to keep up with. Simply, go to the Government website and enter your registration number to check your MOT status.

Vehicles that are exempt from MOT include tractors, electric goods vehicles, and some classic cars.
