Featuring enhanced driving dynamics and a gorgeous appearance, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is an appealing alternative to your run-of-the-mill SUV.
It comes with a slick ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard, while the innovative Q4 all-wheel drive set up means that in normal conditions the Alfa Romeo Stelvio behaves like a typical rear-wheel drive vehicle, but if the system detects any reduction in stability, it will transfer up to 50 per cent of the power to the front wheels in real time. This means you’ve power where you need it at all times.
A carbon fibre prop shaft and aluminium bonnet, suspension and rear wing is made from aluminium to reduce weight and ensures a perfect 50/50 weight distribution which boosts its handling ability – as a result, it’s the lightest car in its class!
The spacious interior of the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio boosts its practicality and features plenty of storage space in both the cockpit and in the back. The three rear seats are as comfortably as the two up-front and the boot has a capacity of 525-litres, making the Alfa Romeo Stelvio more than capable of hauling a family and all their gear from A-to-B.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio features a sporty interior design with and in typical Italian style there’s a push button start located on the leather-wrapped steering wheel. The huge dials on the digital driver’s display allow for easy readability with little distraction and the aluminium gear-shift paddles situated behind the steering wheel allow for quick shifts as and when needed. You can opt for a 6.5-inch or an 8.8-inch touchscreen unit with built-in satellite navigation, while USB connectivity comes as standard.
The new Alfa Romeo Stelvio is available with a choice of three petrol engines – two 2.0-litre turbo petrol units and a monstrous 2.9-litre V6 with over 500bhp. There are also two 2.2-litre diesels boasting 210bhp and returning up to 58mpg. The diesel unit emits just 127g/km of CO2. All power plants pull strongly making the Alfa Romeo Stelvio a superb motorway cruiser as well as a vehicle that can tackle those tricky winding b-roads with ease.
The Alfa Romeo driving mode selector, or DNA Switch, enables you to configure your car for the road ahead and lets you choose from Dynamic, Natural or All-Weather set-ups. The adjustments effect the transmission and accelerator response as well as traction control and steering weight. These distinct changes mean the Alfa Romeo Stelvio will always cope with what’s ahead and will suit your driving requirements.
