Geely expanded its European ambitions with the unveiling of the Monjaro EM-i at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, which started on 12 October 2026. The large plug-in hybrid SUV made its European debut at the event, introducing the Chinese manufacturer’s latest flagship to a wider audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rather than focusing on outright speed, Geely presented the Monjaro EM-i as an all-round family SUV. It combined electrified power, adaptable handling, extensive safety equipment and a spacious, technology-focused interior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The model also reflected the brand’s growing interest in mainstream European buyers. It targeted motorists who wanted the benefits of electrification without sacrificing comfort, practicality or confidence on longer journeys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the theme \u2018Performance That Goes Beyond\u2019, the Monjaro EM-i promised a more rounded ownership experience. Its appeal rested on how its powertrain, chassis and cabin features worked together in everyday use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plug-in Hybrid Power Balanced Efficiency and Response<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
At the heart of the Geely Monjaro EM-i sat the manufacturer’s EM-i Super Hybrid system. It paired a dedicated, high-efficiency 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with intelligent energy management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The combination sought to balance responsive acceleration with economical energy use. Geely’s approach focused on maintaining consistent delivery throughout a journey, rather than relying on short bursts of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geely planned to offer an all-wheel-drive version featuring its Intelligent Electric AWD System, known as e-AWD. This technology adjusted power distribution according to changing road conditions, with responses measured in milliseconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adaptable Handling for Different Road Conditions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The Monjaro EM-i used Geely’s GEA Evo architecture, which supported its electrified powertrain and chassis systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The platform provided the foundations for front- and rear-axle decoupling and torque vectoring. These technologies were intended to help the SUV respond effectively to changing surfaces and driver inputs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The all-wheel-drive model also featured Continuous Damping Control suspension. According to Geely, the system could adjust damping characteristics in as little as 20 milliseconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drivers could select Comfort, Standard and Sport suspension settings to suit different journeys and preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The standard model featured four driving modes: Pure, Hybrid, Power and Snow. The all-wheel-drive version added Sand and Off-road settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together, these systems gave the SUV a broader range of capabilities. The engineering priorities included motorway stability, predictable cornering and a comfortable ride over longer distances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety Technology Took Centre Stage<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Geely also emphasised occupant protection and driver assistance. The Monjaro EM-i combined a high-strength body structure with seven airbags and the manufacturer’s Battery Safety System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SUV included 13 Level 2 active-safety features, alongside nine driving comfort assistance functions. A 360-degree camera with a transparent chassis view was intended to improve visibility around and beneath the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This could help when manoeuvring in tight spaces or negotiating obstacles. The system offered drivers a clearer picture of areas that might otherwise be difficult to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Geely reported that it had subjected the model to 21 extreme-condition safety tests. The hybrid architecture also incorporated propulsion-system redundancy, allowing the engine and electric motor to serve as alternative sources of drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the manufacturer described the Monjaro EM-i as prepared for a five-star Euro NCAP result. This was an intended outcome, rather than confirmation of an independently awarded five-star rating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practicality formed another major part of the Monjaro EM-i’s appeal. The SUV measured approximately 15ft 9in long, with a wheelbase of around 9ft 4in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Geely quoted up to 5.1in of second-row knee room, giving rear passengers more space to stretch out. That extra room could make longer journeys more comfortable for families and adult passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Luggage capacity was similarly generous. The boot offered 633 litres, expanding to 1,532 litres when the rear seats were folded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A maximum longitudinal storage length of approximately 9ft 2in added to its carrying potential. Geely also incorporated 34 storage compartments throughout the cabin for smaller everyday items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seating featured an 11-layer composite construction. Optional massage seats offered eight massage points, six massage modes and three intensity settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Front-seat heating was included, while ventilation was available as an option. These features helped make the cabin better suited to extended trips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Noise reduction received similar attention. Double-pane laminated front windows and acoustic materials covering approximately 89% of the cabin formed part of the sound-insulation package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Geely also reported 23 airtightness improvements and a 45% reduction in tyre noise. These measures aimed to create a quieter environment, particularly at motorway speeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connected Technology and Everyday Comfort<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The Monjaro EM-i’s dashboard combined digital displays with connected infotainment features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 15.4-inch central touchscreen handled the main infotainment functions, while a 12.3-inch instrument display presented driving information. Buyers could also specify a 25.6-inch head-up display, placing key information within the driver’s field of view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Geely’s Flyme Auto infotainment system supported wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing compatible smartphones to connect without a cable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An optional Flyme Sound system used 16 speakers and a 1,000-watt amplifier. Its 7.1.2 immersive surround-sound arrangement aimed to deliver a more involving listening experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Voice recognition supported 18 languages across four audio zones. Geely also stated that voice commands could operate as many as 600 functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These features were intended to simplify everyday interactions. Rather than relying entirely on touchscreen menus, drivers could use voice commands for supported functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For families spending significant time in the car, the combination of connectivity, storage and cabin comfort could prove as important as the powertrain itself.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
Geely also outlined substantial warranty provisions for the Monjaro EM-i.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vehicle warranty covered eight years or 125,000 miles, whichever came first. The high-voltage battery received the same time and mileage cover, with a guaranteed minimum state of health of 70%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Corrosion protection covered rust-through for 12 years. Geely also included 24-hour roadside assistance across the UK and Northern Ireland for the first four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Warranty coverage depended on servicing in line with the manufacturer’s schedule at an authorised Geely repairer. Buyers would therefore need to follow the specified maintenance requirements to retain the stated cover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For motorists considering a newer automotive brand, this level of support could be an important factor in the ownership decision. It provided additional reassurance alongside the SUV’s electrified drivetrain and extensive equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Geely Monjaro EM-i Set Its Sights on European Families<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The Monjaro name drew inspiration from Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Geely used the connection to express a philosophy of balancing ambition with control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Monjaro EM-i applied that idea to a family-focused plug-in hybrid SUV. Its combination of electrified power, available all-wheel drive, generous cabin space and driver-assistance systems targeted buyers seeking versatility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SUV’s strongest points appeared to be its extensive equipment and everyday usability. The spacious interior, flexible luggage area and adaptable suspension supported family duties, while the hybrid system offered an alternative to conventional petrol-only SUVs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Important buying considerations remained unresolved. Geely’s launch information did not include official power and torque figures, electric range, fuel-consumption data, UK pricing or delivery dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those details would help buyers assess the Monjaro EM-i against established plug-in hybrid rivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
