Dacia is moving into the next phase of its electric journey with the new Dacia Spring, the first of four all-electric models planned as part of its roadmap to 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original Spring helped bring electric motoring to a much wider audience. Since launching in 2021, it has sold more than 210,000 units across over 40 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the second-generation model arrives with a completely new design, more interior space, updated technology and improved efficiency. Despite the changes, Dacia has stayed true to the formula that made the original Spring successful: keep things simple, practical and focused on everyday driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Completely New Dacia Spring<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although it keeps the Spring name, the new car is significantly different from its predecessor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dacia has built it on Renault Group\u2019s new RG-EV Small platform, giving the Spring access to the latest electric vehicle technology from across the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new model is 15cm longer and 18cm wider than before. It measures 3.85 metres long and 1.74 metres wide, excluding the mirrors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That extra width gives the Spring a more substantial stance while creating additional space inside. Yet it remains compact enough for busy streets, tight car parks and everyday urban driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Spring is also built in Europe at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Bolder Design With a Practical Purpose<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dacia has given the Spring a much more confident appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new design uses geometric shapes, pronounced wheel arches and a short, high bonnet. Black trim strips connect the headlights and rear lights, emphasising the car\u2019s width and giving it a distinctive appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lighting signature takes inspiration from the Dacia Link emblem, creating a modern look without unnecessary decoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buyers can choose from four colours: Agave, Shadow Grey, Diamond Black and Glacier White.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The design also has a practical side. Protective panels on the front and rear bumpers use textured black plastic, helping to disguise minor scratches and scuffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More Room Inside, More Space for Luggage<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The larger dimensions bring a useful increase in practicality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boot offers up to 337 litres of storage, which gives the Spring one of the largest luggage areas in its class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fold the 50\/50 split rear seats and total load capacity rises to 1,283 litres. There is also an optional 18-litre “frunk” beneath the bonnet, providing useful extra room for the charging cable and smaller items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, Dacia has focused on making the cabin feel open and straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Horizontal dashboard lines help create a greater sense of space, while the layout keeps key information easy to see. All versions feature a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, with the Journey trim adding a 10.1-inch multimedia touchscreen.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Up to 155 Miles of Electric Range<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Spring uses a 60 kW electric motor producing 80 bhp and 129 lb ft of torque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It takes 12.1 seconds to reach 62 mph and has a top speed of 81 mph. These figures are well suited to the car\u2019s purpose. The Spring is designed for everyday driving rather than outright performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 27.5 kWh usable LFP battery provides up to 155 miles of WLTP combined range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many drivers, that should cover most daily journeys comfortably. Dacia\u2019s research into first-generation Spring owners found that they travel around 13 miles per day on average, at an average speed of 13 mph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research also found that 75% of owners charge at home, highlighting how closely the Spring fits into a typical daily routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charging Made Simple<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Dacia Spring supports several charging options, making it easy to match the car to different lifestyles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its standard 6.6 kW AC charger can take the battery from 15% to 80% in nine hours using a domestic socket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A heavy-duty socket reduces that time to five hours and 40 minutes, while a 7 kW home charger takes just two hours and 55 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For faster charging, customers can choose the optional Charge Pack. This adds an 11 kW AC charger and a 50 kW DC charger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using a compatible rapid charger, the Spring can charge from 15% to 80% in 28 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Charge Pack also adds vehicle-to-load, or V2L, capability, allowing the car to power small electrical devices such as lights, coffee makers and e-bike batteries.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Smart Technology Without the Overcomplication<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dacia has taken a straightforward approach to connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Expression trim includes Media Control, allowing drivers to manage media and phone functions using steering wheel controls and a smartphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dedicated phone holder sits in the centre of the dashboard, keeping the device secure and easy to access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Journey trim adds Media Nav Live, with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also includes eight years of connected navigation, with real-time traffic information and continuously updated maps of Europe. Other connected features include charge scheduling, cabin pre-conditioning and vehicle tracking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus remains on technology that makes everyday life easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easy to Drive Around Town<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With a 4.95-metre turning circle, the new Spring should feel at home in urban environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rear parking sensors come as standard, while the Journey trim also includes a reversing camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driving position has received attention too. The driver’s seat slides and adjusts for height, while the backrest reclines. The steering wheel adjusts for both height and reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An automatic electric parking brake comes as standard across the range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dacia\u2019s My Safety feature also allows drivers to customise certain driver assistance settings at start-up, saving the need to adjust individual systems each time they drive.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A Straightforward Two-Trim Range<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dacia has kept the line-up refreshingly straightforward, with just Expression and Journey versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both use the same 60 kW electric motor, 27.5 kWh LFP battery and 6.6 kW AC charger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expression<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Expression comes with 15-inch Mura steel wheels, remote central locking, electric front windows and wing mirrors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manual air conditioning, automatic headlights, rear parking sensors and an electric handbrake are also standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, there is the Media Control system, a USB-C port, 50\/50 split-folding rear seats and three YouClip mounting points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journey<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Journey adds 16-inch Drava steel wheels, a hands-free card and a reversing camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also includes the Media Nav Live system with its 10.1-inch touchscreen, navigation and connected services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two USB-C ports, TEP and fabric upholstery and a luggage compartment cover complete the higher trim level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical Accessories and Everyday Versatility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dacia has designed the new Spring to be adaptable, with its clever YouClip accessory system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mounting points can hold a range of useful extras, including a smartphone cable organiser, glasses case and foldable shopping bag. There is also a 3-in-1 accessory combining a cup holder, bag hook and portable torch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owners can also add storage organisers, adjustable console dividers, a padded armrest and protective mats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spring can therefore be tailored around different routines, whether it is being used for the daily commute, shopping trips or weekend adventures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lightweight and Highly Efficient<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Efficiency is one of the Spring\u2019s biggest strengths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 1,212kg, it remains one of the lightest electric cars in its segment. That low weight helps reduce energy consumption, with the Spring achieving 12.7 kWh\/100 km on the WLTP combined cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dacia has also chosen an LFP battery, which uses materials such as iron and phosphate. These are more readily available than nickel and cobalt used in some other battery technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company says the new Spring could achieve a carbon footprint around 60% lower across its life cycle compared with equivalent petrol and diesel models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Small Electric Car With Big Practical Ambitions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Dacia Spring is a much more complete car than its predecessor, but it has not lost sight of its original purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It remains compact and easy to drive around town, while the extra width and generous boot make it more practical for everyday life. The 155-mile maximum range should suit many regular commutes, and home charging can make ownership particularly straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the improved technology, stronger design and clever storage solutions give the new model considerably more appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dacia has taken what worked with the original Spring and developed it into a more capable, more spacious and more polished electric car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
