Innovation took centre stage with the introduction of VR practice and practical tests\u2014a new addition for this year&#8217;s event. Organisers were keen to gather contestant feedback, highlighting the rapidly evolving landscape of automotive technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 2: The Practical Challenges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tim\u2019s group hit the ground running on Day 2, heading to the Global Learning Centre for five intensive practical tests. These included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Electrical diagnostics<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CAN network fault-finding<\/strong> on various non-UK market vehicles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>An EV segment<\/strong> dedicated entirely to electric vehicle technology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each challenge demanded absolute precision and a deep understanding of modern, complex automotive systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 3: Industry and Manufacturing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Day 3 offered an immersive look at the backbone of the industry, beginning with a visit to the Asan car plant and culminating in a tour of the Hyundai steelworks. Witnessing the intricate process of steel production for vehicle manufacturing provided unparalleled insights into the scale of the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Day 4: Culture and Heritage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The final day was a celebration of Korean culture, featuring a visit to the awe-inspiring Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, followed by souvenir shopping in the vibrant Insadong district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflecting on the Journey<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflecting on the experience, Tim expressed immense pride in representing the UK alongside nearly 75 other global contestants. His performance demonstrated technical expertise and adaptability, particularly during the competition\u2019s new VR testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tim described the opening ceremony as a great honour, where UK titleholders returned the trophy and recited the official oath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He thanked Gavin and James for their support, including workshop commitments and training and travel expenses. Tim\u2019s journey from national champion to global podium highlights his dedication, expertise and adaptability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Hero&#8217;s Welcome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On Thursday, 16th November 2023, the Stoneacre Chesterfield team welcomed Ben Sargeant (Head of Customer Service for Hyundai UK), Gerry George (Stoneacre\u2019s Aftersales Director), and Scott Fairhead (Hyundai Zone Manager) for a personal meeting to congratulate Tim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben, Gerry and Scott discussed his experience and thanked him for representing Hyundai UK and Stoneacre at the world finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebration concluded with a group photograph and a well-deserved treat for the entire workshop team: pizzas and doughnuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stoneacre.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Stoneacre-Chesterfield-Tim-Cartwright.jpg\" alt=\"Stoneacre Chesterfield Tim Cartwright\" class=\"wp-image-14675 size-full\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Gerry George, Aftersales Director, commented on this success:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It\u2019s brilliant to see Tim achieving such a prestigious award.
