To make it easier to pick a vehicle that will suit all members of your family, we've rounded up the best seven-seater cars on the market. From stylish SUVs to multifunctional MPVs, here are our favourite seven seater cars for sale.

Volvo XC90

Volvo’s XC90 was designed to make driving easier and more enjoyable. From the outside, the distinctive Scandinavian design projects a natural confidence, while inside the clean uncluttered cabin provides an unbelievable sense of calm for a relaxing journey from beginning to end.

An abundance of intuitive technology is available across the trim range, this includes a nine-inch portrait touchscreen which controls a host of the car's functions and entertainment systems. Meanwhile, robust and cleverly thought out storage solutions mean there really is a place for everything. Just in case you need extra room and aren't in need of seven seats, the third row of seats can be folded with minimal effort thanks to a handy button located near the driver’s seat.

But perhaps one of the XC90's biggest selling points for families is its impeccable safety record, with no fatalities recorded in the UK in an XC90 since 2004.

SEAT Alhambra

There are quite a few cars on the market capable of seating seven; however, few do as good a job of carrying seven adults as the Alhambra. The spacious cabin has plenty of room for everyone, with the third-row seats offering ample space for even the leggiest of passengers.

You can choose from a 1.4-litre petrol or a 2.0-litre diesel engine with two different power outputs. Both of which offer a great combination of economy and performance.

There are four different trim options, including S, SE, SE L and XCELLENCE, so it’s easy to find the right specification for your needs. Plus, it’s easy to manoeuvre thanks to the front and rear parking sensors.

In addition, with seven airbags and a range of active safety systems, you can rest assured that it will look after everyone on board.

Ford Galaxy

The Ford Galaxy offers you a luxurious seven-seater experience thanks to its elegant and contemporary design. It has long been a popular choice thanks to the range of efficient and economical petrol and diesel engines which ensure you get low running costs.

Inside, as well as seven functional and versatile seats, you will find multiple storage areas and cubbies, so every passenger has somewhere to put their bits and bobs. The Galaxy also gets a whopping 300-litre boot capacity, while the flexible seating setup allows you to quickly adjust the vehicle to increase load space as required.

Equipped with some of Ford’s latest technology you can expect to benefit from features such as Ford’s SYNC 3 system, rear parking sensors and climate control.

There are four different trims to choose from including Pop, Easy, Lounge and Trekking. This enables you to get everything you want and need from the vehicle.

With light steering and agile handling, the Doblo is no bother to travel around town or country. In addition, the Doblo is an extremely economical choice with a low initial cost price, affordable insurance and efficient engines for low daily running costs.

Based on the Citroen Berlingo van, this seven-seater MPV is packed with practicality. However, don’t fall into the trap of thinking it will drive or feel like a van; this is a far more refined vehicle. With a host of luxury features and a raft of safety equipment, it is ideal for larger families.

A 1.2-litre petrol engine is available alongside a 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel engine, which is available with three different power outputs. All offer admirable performance and, when combined with the Berlingo’s accurate and light steering, you'll get a comfortable ride.

The durable interior has been designed with families in mind. Being tough and easy to clean it can withstand the rigours of hectic family life. Equipment is generous even on standard models. You can expect the likes of air-conditioning and an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system which will keep everyone on board entertained.

Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai’s largest SUV has plenty to offer families, with space for seven and a rugged go-anywhere ability.

Inside is remarkably comfortable with the driver benefitting from a high driving position for a great view of the road ahead. Equipment is generous with the standard model benefitting from Bluetooth connectivity, voice control, a CD player, six speakers and USB and AUX connections.

The Santa Fe is only available with a 2.2-litre diesel engine which puts up a commendable performance up steep inclines as well as being capable of overtaking on country roads.

Four-wheel drive makes the Santa Fe a capable tow vehicle, while also ensuring you get plenty of sticking power in slippery conditions. While rear parking sensors are standard across the range so you should have no problems parking up.

Peugeot 5008

The Peugeot 5008 is a relatively new offering from Peugeot. It sets itself apart from other SUVs thanks to its stylish looks which are sure to appeal to people who need space but don’t want to compromise on design.

The swish and spacious interior features Peugeot’s i-Cockpit design with a 12.3” digital instrument display positioned high up on the dash above the steering wheel. Equipment is impressive, too, with the likes of dusk-sensing lights and rain-sensing wipers as standard.

You can choose from a range of petrol and diesel engines. The big surprise in the line-up is a 1.2-litre 128bhp engine which does a good job of powering this large SUV while being extremely economical to run. However, four-wheel drive capability is not an option on the 5008; instead, you’ll have to make do with the very capable Grip Control system that helps to improve traction across numerous conditions.

Honda CR-V

This sporty and luxurious SUV now comes with a seven-seater option. Having undergone an interior redesign the smooth flowing lines of the interior are sure to grab your attention. The clearly laid out digital dash is easy to use and comes with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Plus, there are a variety of different ways to make this all-new SUV more personal to you for true head-turning style.

The wide stance of the CR-V means that you get plenty of space to travel in comfort. While the adaptable storage means you’ll have no problems carrying larger awkward items.

The CR-V comes with a 1.5-litre VTEC turbo petrol engine which comes with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed CVT auto. This capable engine has a sporty soul and delivers incredible performance for an agile driving experience.

The twin sliding doors give you easy access to the vehicle and mean you will have no problems reaching in to strap little ones into their seats. Plus, with multiple cubbies and storage bins featured throughout the cabin, everyone gets somewhere to put their essentials. While the easy-fold seats mean you can increase storage capacity as and when needed.

With Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and Forward Collision Alert you can relax in the knowledge that the Combo Life puts you and your family first. While the head-up display and rear-view camera ensure daily driving is stress-free.

Nissan X-Trail

Designed for those with an adventurous spirit, the powerful new styling and next-level technology ensure the seven-seater Nissan X-Trail has everything you could possibly need on your journey.

You can tailor it your needs with the option of either a rugged four-wheel drive system or a front-wheel-drive system. Meanwhile, the choice of engines and availability of manual and automatic transmissions mean there is sure to be something to suit all requirements. The most powerful diesel engines are capable tow vehicles with a maximum 2,000kg towing capacity.

The X-Trail comes with a five-star Euro NCAP rating so you can expect the likes of six airbags, traction and stability control and hill hold assist. While additional features including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian recognition is standard on N-Connecta models and above.
