Say hello to the newest member of the Corsa line-up the brand new:
The new Vauxhall Corsa GSi is due to hit showrooms in September but how does the latest model stack up?
Downgrading from the VXR variant the new GSi will feature a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine which delivers 148bhp and 162lb of torque. While some may question Vauxhall’s decision to offer a less powerful sporty model, others will be thrilled as it is likely to be more affordable to insure. This will put the GSi in reach of many who have craved a punchier version of their current Corsa model.
The new Corsa GSi will be more than capable too! Reaching 0-62mph in 8.9 seconds and with a top speed of 128mph, it will marginally trump the Ford Fiesta ST-Line. It will also, according to Vauxhall, deliver 47.1mpg and just 139g/km so should work out a pocket friendly option all round.
Style wise the sporty touches will ensure the new Corsa GSi stands apart from the rest of the Corsa range. It will only be available as a three-door model. While noteworthy details include the large front air intake, stylish honeycomb grille, sculpted bonnet and a functional rear wing and spoiler, which will help to reduce lift. Plus it will be available with impressive looking 18” alloy wheels.
Borrowing heavily from the VXR the new GSi will benefit from the same firmer springs, dampers and uprated brakes for more responsive handling. The close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox will offer smooth transitions for a seamless consistent power delivery. The GSi will also retain a ‘hot hatch’ essential a proper, fuss-free manual handbrake.
Vauxhall have continued the sports styling inside. With a more driver focused design you can sit back and enjoy the ride in the comfortable body-hugging Recaro front seats. Further distinctive touches include aluminium pedals and a leather sports steering wheel.
Equipment wise few details have been released, but we do know is that the new Vauxhall Corsa GSi will come as standard with a seven-inch touchscreen that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Andorid Auto, for full connectivity whilst on the move.
Can’t wait until September? Good news – orders are likely to be taken from July so you only have to wait a few weeks until you spec up your car. Plus you can sign up to be the first to know when the new Vauxhall Corsa GSi will land in our showroom.
