Reaching the top spot in our top 10 used car review is…
The Ford Fiesta has been on the market for over forty years and its popularity has continued to soar, making it one of Britain’s best loved and most popular cars. So it really is no surprise that it reached our top spot. This is great news if you’re looking for a used Fiesta model as there are plenty in circulation to choose from.
The Ford Fiesta has won numerous awards over the years including What Car’s 2009 ‘Car of the year’, Top Gear’s Car of the Year 2013 and What Car? 2018 Used Car of the Year Best Hot Hatch for the Fiesta ST.

The Ford Fiesta is a class leader! Ford has worked hard in a competitive market to ensure that the Fiesta continues to offer exceptional and entertaining handling coupled with sharp sporty styling. There is ample room on board for a hatchback and you can easily accommodate 2 adults in the back. What’s more whilst compact the boot still has plenty of space for the weekly shop or the team’s kit. Available as either a 3 or 5 door the Fiesta is as adaptable as it is practical. So whether you’re looking for your first car or a great value small family car a used Ford Fiesta could be the car for you!
If you’re looking for a bargain there’s plenty of basic level used Ford Fiesta models that offer you a fun drive just with less tech on board. If you’ve got a bigger budget we’d definitely recommend opting for the top of the range Titanium model, which offers an impressive level of kit including cruise control and automatic lights and wipers. Or for a sportier option then we’d advise the ST, described by What Car? as having a drive experience that is ‘nothing short of superb’.
You’ll find both petrol and diesel used Ford Fiestas on the market, however we’d recommend going for a petrol if you’re unlikely to cover more than 12,000 miles a year. They’re more cost effective and still offer plenty of oomph! However a diesel is a great choice if you regularly travel longer distances or plan to do plenty of motorway driving.
Use your money to buy the newest Fiesta model you can afford and you’ll benefit from impressively low emissions which helps to keep your road tax to a minimum. They also offer ample mpg capabilities so you won’t be shelling out loads on fuel.
Ford is a well-known and trusted car brand and Ford cars frequently score well in reliability surveys. But should you run into problems with your used Fiesta you’ll be pleased to know that Ford Fiesta maintenance costs won’t break the bank. Ford has always tried to maintain affordability so you’ll find that their parts, servicing and repairs won’t cost the earth. The average recommended service interval is around 12,500 miles depending on the model you opt for, so for most people yearly servicing will be fine.
