If you love cars and you love speed, but especially if you love a teeth-rattling combination of the two, you’ll already be counting the days to the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Since its launch in 1993, Goodwood’s annual wheelspin-athon has become the Mecca for speed-freaks worldwide, gathering together the planet’s rarest and most glamourous cars. This year’s four day event promises to be unmissable.
The summer festival is the largest homage to cars and speed in the world, and the 2017 event will run from June 29th to July 2nd. Organisers have just announced this year’s theme; Peaks of Performance – Motorsport’s Game-Changers. The festival will doff its cap to those benchmark-setting machines that scared the living-daylights out of rule makers by being too fast, too expensive or just too darn complex.
Visitors can expect to see an unrivalled collection of history making cars and motorcyles; the kind that didn’t just leave their mark on the history books, they burned a rubbery donut across every single page. This includes rev-pumping unlimited sports cars, 750kg Grand Prix cars from the 1930s, Group B rally legends, plus a what’s-what of hair-raising Formula One hardware.
Of course, this is all in addition to Goodwood’s usual collections of four and two-wheeled must-sees and the daring drivers who braved all behind the wheel.
Drooling at the thought? We are too! Luckily, tickets are already on sale so if you feel the need for some serious speed, head for Goodwood this summer.
