How to Install an Electric Vehicle Charger?

If you want fast and hassle-free charging at home, the best solution is to have a dedicated wall-box charger installed.

There are various wall-box chargers available, and while they may differ in looks, the majority provide 7kW of power. Due to the increased power the wall-box draws, a qualified technician or electrician must fit the home charging point.

As a result, most wall-box providers include the cost of installation in the charger price or offer it free of charge when you buy from them. The technician will install the wall-box, connect it to your electricity supply through your fuse box and then complete necessary safety checks before signing off the charger. The whole process only takes a few hours to complete.

Remember you can charge through most EVs through a standard 13amp three-pin plug which requires no additional installation. However, charging using this method is much slower and far less convenient, so is not the best long-term solution.
