Say hello to the all-new Vauxhall Crossland X, the Luton firm’s brand new crossover, a bold and practical car that looks great from any angle.
In our showrooms this summer, this newcomer is a small crossover boasting ‘Tardis-like’ cabin space with a practicality and flexibility, thanks in large to its 1255-litres of maximum loadspace (rear seats folded). The front-wheel-drive offering has a stand-out SUV feel with a high bonnet, roof rails and rugged-looking front bumper ensuring it has a more chunky 4x4 stance, yet the Crossland X has been described by the Luton brands’ bosses as a CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle). A more in-depth look at the side of the car and its design shows it to be what it really is, essential a family-orientated people carrier.
The Crossland X features black-out C-pillar that keeps the model in line with other vehicles in the Vauxhall range, plus a two-tone paint job for those who find it hard to agree on car colour. The roof, for example, you can choose from contrasting white, black or grey. Alternatively, you can stick with the standard body colour - these options will enhance the chance of your model creating a head-turning impression.
On to the interior, large windows and an elevated driving position gives you an amazing view of your surroundings, while vast cabin space enhances the car’s open interior. Sliding rear seats mean that depending on your needs, you can increase the size of the boot or the legroom for back-seat passengers.
The new model arrives with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder option in 82bhp, 108bhp and 128bhp forms and a 1.6-litre diesel unit in differing power outputs.
The dashboard and infotainment system has a classy feel and isn’t overly fussy. It features dual-zone climate control, cruise control and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone “mirroring”, so whatever you can see on your device is also visible on your dash. You can charge your device wirelessly too, and the much revered OnStar service includes in-car WiFi as standard.
