Research shows servicing bookings have changed forever

Go back a few years, and if the Service Department of your local car dealer wasn’t inundated with phone calls, the manager would think something was wrong.

These days, walk into any busy service centre are you’re unlikely to be disturbed by a chirping phone. Silence rules. The world has changed.

According to a recent survey, most customers have now dispensed with making phone calls to their garage; preferring instead to arrange their next convenient service appointment entirely online.

Indeed, a staggering 79% of those asked claimed to now make their booking via their dealer’s website. Only 15% booked over the phone. And the days of face to face bookings look numbered, with just 6% of customers calling in.
