Volvo unveils ‘last piece of the 90-series jigsaw’
The February 2017 launch of Volvo’s V90 Cross Country is the latest, and according to Volvo’s CEO Håkan Samuelsson at least, the final addition to the popular V90 range.
Billed as the perfect car for drivers wanting SUV performance without full SUV size, the Cross Country looks to offer the refinements and comfort of a saloon, with genuine condition-beating capabilities.
Thanks to its high wheel arches and strong lines, this car looks like a very athletic saloon. With 60mm of extra ride height and specially designed rounded tyres (made exclusively by Pirelli), the Cross Country is equipped to deliver genuine tough-terrain performance.
Built to cope with the worst the weather can throw at it
Volvo have tested over 200 chassis characteristics to make the car as at home on the highway as it is on a frozen track. This car is equipped to thrive in whatever conditions the Swedish weather can throw at it, from muddy roads to knee-deep snow. So coping on the damp and occasionally icy British roads should be a breeze!
With four switchable driving modes, including Rough Road, Comfort, Eco and Dynamic, it’s easy to see why the new V90 Cross Country delivers a driving experience described as ‘relaxed confidence’.
The Cross Country’s assured drive and head-turning appeal confirms it as a worthy rival to other top-end models, including Audi’s A6 Allroad and the soon-to-be-released Mercedes E-Class ‘All Terrain’.
Setting standards - taking high-end saloon cars to the next level
Commenting on the more refined and elegant styling of the new Cross Country, Volvo’s design head Thomas Ingenlath said, ‘I think we are at the front of trend with this move to something that’s a more exquisite design. Volvo pioneered this niche and we are taking it to the next level.’
Slide behind the wheel and you’ll find yourself immersed in a cool cabin, with plenty of hi-tech toys at your fingertips. This includes Sensus Connect and Apple CarPlayTM, allowing you to seamlessly integrate your iPhone or iPad with the Cross Country’s centre display. Safely use your phone and apps, play music, make or take calls, even listen to and send texts – all with the touch of a button.
On the road, the V90 Cross Country takes driving to the next level. Volvo’s legendary safety features come as standard, along with the manufacturer’s innovative and semi-autonomous adaptive driving tech – Cruise Control with Pilot Assist.
Technology so advanced, the Cross Country almost drives itself
Employing a mix of camera and radar technologies to help regulate your speed and direction, Pilot Assist uses automatic acceleration, steering and braking to help ease the strain of negotiating stop-start traffic. It can even keep you safely in lane, at speeds of up to 80mph.
Volvo’s head-turning V90 Cross Country is due at our specialist Volvo dealerships in Grimsby, Chesterfield and Lincoln from Feb 2017. It’s sure to be one of the hottest cars of the year, so make sure you’re one of the first to book a test drive.
