Normal cars can transport you to and from a destination. In cartoons, cars provide equipment, defences and even comedy value. Some cartoon cars have their own personalities and go on a journey. These are the top ten best cartoon cars.

The Mystery Machine: Scooby Doo Where Are You!

Used to transport Mystery Inc., the Mystery Machine conveniently had all the items packed that the gang needed, for example ladders and ropes. The van seems to resemble a modified Chevrolet Greenbrier van with a multi-coloured paint job.

Lightning McQueen: Cars

Voiced by Owen Wilson, Lightning McQueen starts the Cars movie as a rising star in racing and throughout the film learns the value of friends as well as respect. McQueen’s design is based on the Mazda MX-5, Dodge Viper and NASCAR cars. 

Mater: Cars

Sir Tow Mater, known simply as Mater during the Cars movies, is voiced by Daniel Whitney (Larry the Cable Guy). Mater’s design is influenced by the 1951 version of the International Harvester boom truck. The self-proclaimed "world’s best backwards driver" truck is brown due to rust and has a Southern hillbilly accent. 

Benny the Cab: Who Framed Roger Rabbit

In "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", Benny is a yellow Volkswagen Beetle taxicab in L.A voiced by Charles Fleischer. Benny the cab usually appears in the movie when the protagonists need to flee the scene.

The Mean Machine: Wacky Races

The rocket-powered car is one of the fastest cars in the Wacky Races series. The purple car can fly and has many concealable weapons to aid Dick Dastardly and Muttley in the races.

The Flintmobile: The Flintstones

This car is the ‘Bedrock’ of the Flintstones life.The Flintmobile has a wooden structure, canvas roof and stone wheels. Used by the Flintstones family, the foot-propelled Flintmobile is used to navigate around the Stone Age town of Bedrock. 

Bumblebee: Transformers

Bumblebee is a small and yellow autobot that transforms in to a Volkswagen Beetle car. Constantly attempting to prove himself to the other robots, Bumblebee is reliable and fuel-efficient.

The Homer: The Simpsons

In the episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?", Homer is commissioned to design a car for the regular American. Homer designs the Homer car with two domes and three horns which play La Cucaracha.

Convert-a-car: Wacky Races

The boat shaped car is driven by scientist Professor Pat Pending. The car can transform into motorbikes to bowling balls. The convert-a-car featured mainly defensive gadgets to help other drivers and protect him as well as his car.

Turtles van: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The Turtles van transports the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to their destination to fight crime, mutated animals and alien attackers. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are trained by rat sensei and live isolated outside of society.
